GO Transit introduces new Hamilton-Waterloo service

Starting April 8, GO Transit is adding a new line between Hamilton and Waterloo as well as expanding and changing various routes.

Route 17 will serve McMaster University, University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier and University of Guelph

A new, direct bus service connecting Hamilton and Waterloo will start operating on April 8asGO Transitexpandsits schedules.

The new service will operate hourly in both directions on weekdays, starting April 10, and will depart from Zone B at Hamilton GO Centre.

Route 17 is set to serve four universities:

  • University of Waterloo.
  • Wilfrid LaurierUniversity.
  • University of Guelph,.
  • McMaster University.

It is also set to "connect to rail services at Guelph Central GO, Hamilton GO Centre and Aldershot GO stations."

Other expansions and changes to bus services starting on April 8 include:

  • Route 12 in Niagara Falls is getting more weekday services between St. Catharines Fairview Mall and Burlington GO, and more seasonal service between Burlington GO and Niagara Falls.
  • Route 15 between Brantford and Burlington will see reduced services to post-secondary institutions.
  • Route 40 between Hamilton and Richmond Hill is adding more trips "to bring service levels to 20-minute frequency during the rush hour periods," according to GO Transit's website, which will affect current departure times by up to 15 minutes.
  • Route 41A will be extended to serve Pickering GO Station, which will affect current departure times by up to fiveminutes.
  • Route 47 between Hamilton GO and the Highway 407 Bus Terminal is adding trips to have buses running every 30 minutes. This will affect current departure times by up to 15 minutes.
  • Route 47W is also adding a stop at Canada's Wonderland starting May 6 until the end of August.
