Police seek help in east end murder investigation

Hamilton police have released a snippet of video in hope the public can help officers piece together how 57-year-old Ernie Sitter was murdered.

Hamilton police have released a snippet of video in the hopethe public can help officers piece together how 57-year-old Ernie Sitter was murdered.

Sitters body was found in his King Street apartment building on Jan. 9. An autopsy revealed that he died from blunt force trauma.

The killing was Hamilton's third homicide of the year.

Police have interviewed several witnesses who have provided important details surrounding Sitters life, Det. Sgt. Matt Kavanagh said in a news release.

Many of these people have described Mr. Sitter as a generous, well-liked man, he said.

Police now have several pieces of evidence at the Centre of Forensic science being examined, and are awaiting analysis by forensic experts. Officers are also examining videotape evidence canvassed from surrounding businesses, he said.

Police are now releasing a screen shot from a video clip that shows a man and a woman around Sitters apartment building around the time of the murder. Officers are hoping to identify these people to interview them, police say.
