Man killed near Gage Park was a father of 3, Hamilton police say

ActingDet-Sgt. Robert Di Ianni told reporters on Monday thatthe body of the victim,Randy Peardon, was found in100 Connaught Avenue, a three-storey apartment building.

Hamilton police have identified the 37-year-old man killed in an apartment building near Gage Park.

ActingDet-Sgt. Robert Di Ianni told reporterson Monday that the body of the victim,Randy Peardon, was found in100 Connaught Ave., a three-storey apartment building.

Di Iannidescribed Peardon as "an innocent victim in all this and nothing suggests he should've died or been killed."

"He was very innocent," Di Ianni said, without elaborating any further.

Di Ianni said police know how Peardon died, but aren't sharing details.

He said Peardon was in the building for "a considerable amount of time" aspeople moved in and out of the building.

Officers will be in the area for at least another day as they plan on executing a search warrant.

Police are also looking forvideo that shows the areafrom Melrose Avenue South to Gage Avenue along Main Street, and Connaught Avenue to Dunsmure Rd between 5 a.m. and 2 p.m. on June 15.

Police are currently reviewing footage they already have, Di Ianni said.

Di Ianni said Peardon was a father of three and his family is "very distraught."

This is the city's fourth homicide of 2024.
