Several Hamilton roads will be closed or affected by someevents this weekend and next week.

Here's a list of some of the larger closures:

High school triathlon impacting Ancaster roads

On Friday, Ancaster High School's triathlon and duathlon will partially close Jerseyville Road, Meadowbrook Drive and Martin Road from 8 a.m., to 3 p.m.

Jerseyville Road will be closed between Highway 52 and Meadowbrook Drive.

Meadowbrook Drive will be closed between Jerseyville Road to Morwick Drive.

Martin Road will be closed from Jerseyville Road to the north limits.

Maintenance work closes Linc for weekend

The Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway will be closed from Friday morning to Monday morning for maintenance work, according to the city.

The Linc's eastbound lanes will be closed from Friday, May 24 at 8 a.m., to Monday, May 27 at 4 a.m., between Golf Links Road and the Upper Red Hill Valley Parkway off-ramp.

Westbound lanes will be closed from Friday, May 24 at 10 a.m., to Monday, May 27 at 4 a.m., between Red Hill and Mohawk Road.

In a media release, the city said detour routes will be via Mohawk Road and Stone Church Road.

No cars on King Street this Sunday

Cars will not reign supreme over King Street this Sunday for Open Streets.

It's a program where the city bars vehicles from a roadway in an effort to turn the street into a "paved park" where people can use the entire street instead of just the sidewalks.

King Street East will be open for residents and visitors to walk, cycle, roll and play from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m.

The street will be closed to vehicles from Gage Avenue to John Street from 7 a.m., to 4 p.m., but emergency vehicles will still be allowed through, the city says.

HSR Routes 1 and 10 will be detoured westbound via Cannon Street with temporary express bus stops for Route 10 at Sherman, Wentworth and Cannon Streets, according to the city.

RBC Canadian Open to close some Ancaster roads

A golf tournament at theHamilton Golf and Country Club in Ancaster will close some local roads early next week.

The RBC Canadian Openruns from Tuesday, May 28 to Sunday, June 2.

Halson Street will be closed from Wilson Street East to Golf Links Road.

Golf Links Road will also be closed from Halson Street to McNiven Road/Southcote Road.

The closures take place:

  • Between May 27 and May 30 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., each day
  • Between May 31 to June 1 from 7 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., each day.
  • June 2 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The city says residents who live on the impacted streets are asked to place their waste at the curb in front of their property before 7 a.m. on regularly scheduled days.

Official public parking for the event is located at the Ancaster Fairgrounds, with complimentary shuttles to the Hamilton Golf and Country Club.

Road closures will not impact emergency services and their accessibility to residents, according to the city.
