COVID-19 cases at 2 Niagara Falls schools

SomeoneatValley Way Public School in Niagara Falls has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the District School Board of Niagara.

The board tweeted on Tuesday that students and staff would hear from public health as needed.

"The school will be thoroughly cleaned andpublic health will do an on-site assessment," read the message.

"Valley Way will continue with preventative COVID-19 practices such as wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), physical distancing, hand hygiene, and daily health screening."

Besides the tweet, there are few details about the positive case, including if the individual is a student or staff member at the school on Valley Way and Homewood Avenue.

A person atSaint Michael Catholic High School in Niagara Falls also tested positive, but doesn't appear to pose a risk to anyone.

"The individual has not been in the school since September 22. As a result, Niagara Region Public Health has determined that there is no risk of transmission to the school community," reads a release from Niagara Catholic District School Board.
