Doctor-assisted dying now legal in B.C.

As of Tuesday, doctor-assisted dying is legal in Canada. What does that mean for British Columbians seeking a physician-assisted death? B.C. Health Minister Terry Lake tells us how it works.

Each province is now issuing its own guidelines on assisted dying.

As of Tuesday, doctor-assisted dying is legal in Canada. It's expected to be weeks before the highly debated federal guidelinesknown as Bill C-14 becomes law.

In the meantime, some say many Canadians who are suffering, will see this as a chance to act on their final wishes, before any restrictions.

Without a federal law in place, each province is now issuing its own guidelines on assisted dying. B.C. Health Minister Terry Lake explains what will be happening in B.C.
