15 years after a woman's body was found near Rockwood, OPP still don't know who she is

Fifteen years afterpolice found the remains of a woman between Rockwoodand Guelph, they continue to investigate the case and are looking for the public's help.

On August 28, 2005, the remains of a white woman between the ages of 25 and45 years oldwere found in a wooded area along Highway 7.

Ontario Provincial Police investigators say the circumstances surrounding her death were suspicious. They believe she was dragged a short distance into the wooded area about a month before being discovered.

Police say the autopsy revealed that she had no recent injuries, but had experienced a broken left cheek, nose and left eye socket at some point. She had lost two upper teethand wore a two-tooth, partial plate, according to police, which they say would mean she had a visible facial deformity.

"We strongly believe there are people who know what happened to the victim in this case, but have yet to come forward with that information," Det.Insp. Randy Gaynor of the West RegionOPP criminal investigation branch said in a news release.

"If a member of the public has any information, no matter how small, that could be the difference in bringing this case to a resolution.TheOPPnever closes an unsolved homicide."
