2 men charged in New Hamburg grocery store ATM theft

Two men in their 30s face a series of chargesin connection with the brazen theft of an ATM from a New Hamburg grocery store and twosimilar break-ins at a Guelph car wash.

Waterloo Regional Police say the two suspects, both from Oshweken, used a stolenpickup truck to crash through the doors at McKay's No Frills on Haysville Road near Highway 7/8 in mid-May.

Once inside, investigators say the men used a second truck to haul the ATM away.

Waterloo Regional Police said the men were already being held in custody "on other matters." The men are suspected of committingsimilar thefts of ATMs at Auto Reflections Car Wash in Guelph's Hanlon Parkway and Laird Road area.

Police could not say however, if the men are believed to be the same suspects wanted in a separateattempted ATM theft at a Guelph business this summer.In August, two men used a stolen pickup truck to smash their way into a building and then haul an ATM away using a black car.

The two men, aged 31 and 34, face a laundry list of 24 charges that includes break and enters at homes and businesses, the theft of snowmobiles, ATVs, firearms possession and trafficking in stolen property.
