Kurt McKechnie identified as man shot and killed in Cambridge

The man who was shot and killed in Cambridge on Jan. 31 has been identified as Kurt McKechnie, 56. A post mortem determined he died from gunshot wounds, police said.

The man shot and killed in Cambridge on Jan. 31 has been identified as 56-year-old Kurt McKechnie.

Police say a post-mortem determined he died from gunshot wounds.

McKechnie's death is Waterloo region's first homicide of 2019.

Police were called to a residence on Southwood Drive in Cambridge around 6:25 a.m. on Jan. 31. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police continue to investigate and are looking to speak with neighbours and witnesses.
