There are 21 new cases of COVID-19 in Waterloo region, new numbers released by public health Sunday morning show.

The region says there are 112 active cases of the virus. No one is listed as being in hospital.

It brings the total number of cases since the pandemic hit the region in March to 1,592. Of those, 1,360 have been marked as resolvedand 120 people have died.

Today the province reported 365 new cases of COVID-19 along withone new death linked to the novel coronavirus.

The daily tally is lower than totals posted in the previous twodays, but still among the highest numbers seen since early June.

The government recorded more than 400 new cases on both Fridayand Saturday.

On Saturday, the provincial government rolled back limits onsocial gatherings across Ontario, saying no more than 10 people canassemble indoors and 25 outside.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says Toronto and Peel Regioncontinue to have some of the highest new case totals in theprovince, but noted another neighbouring community York Region identified 38 new cases over the past day.

She says the province completed more than 40,000 tests in thelast 24 hours, a new high.
