Don't sweat it if you forgot to return your books on time. The Idea Exchange in Cambridge is getting rid of fines on late returns for the rest of the year.

Idea Exchange said it won't be charging overdue fines starting today on books, DVDs, magazines, video games and "all other items."

Fines are typically a revenue source for libraries.

"As we welcome our community back into our spaces we want them to borrow the items they need and not worry about the financial impact on their household," saidHelen Kelly, CEO of Idea Exchange in a news release.

Overdue fines before the shutdown in March are also on hold until2021.

Similarly, the Waterloo Public Library and the Kitchener Public Library have also waived their overdue fines.

On its website WPL said any existingfines have been put on hold until next year.
