Kitchener-Conestoga MPP Mike Harris says he's feeling confident his government's back-to-school plan is the best it can be.

"I really do," the Progressive Conservative MPP said during an interview on CBC Kitchener-Waterloo's The Morning Edition.

Harris is a father of five and says his oldest is son starting high school and his youngest is starting junior kindergarten.

"If I didn't feel thatour government was putting its best foot forward, I certainly wouldn't be in a position to send my kids back to school, but I really feel that it is a great approach that we've developed and I'm fully satisfied with it," he said.

His comments come after his government has been hammered by teachers' unions, educators and parents who are worried about the plans.

On Monday, the province's four teachers' unions announced they had filed a complaint with theprovince's labour board. The unions allege the school reopening plan does not take "every reasonable precaution" to protect workers from COVID-19, and violates theOccupational Health and Safety Act.
