Kitchener and Guelph poets make CBC Books' Poetry Prize longlist

Two poets, with ties to Waterloo region and Guelph, have made the longlist for CBC Books' Poetry Prize.

Nicholas Ruddock of Guelph and Chad Campbell, originally from Kitchenerwere among the 29 poets to have made the longlist, which was announced Wednesday.

The list was selected by a team of published Canadian poets, includingHelen Hajnoczky,Liz Howard, Brent MacLaine,Sharon McCartney,Cassidy McFadzean,Guillaume Morissette,Soraya Peerbaye,Michael Prior, Jamaal Jackson Rogers and Rebecca Thomas.

Five finalists will be chosen for the shortlistwith one of them awarded the $6,000 grand prizeand a 10-day residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity.

Thelonglistwill be narrowed down to theshortliston Nov. 10, with the grand prize winner announced on Nov. 16.
