Police dog Titan dies after sudden illness

Titan, a police dog that helped nab 18 suspects, has died after a sudden illness, Waterloo Regional Police Service says.

The 3.5-year-old German Shepherd has worked and trained for the past two years with its handler.

Just recently, Titan located a suspect who was armed with a knife in the Fairview Park area.

"Titan was a happy-go-lucky dog but also a capable resource for our Service," Police Chief Bryan Larkin said in a statement. "He was a kind and loyal partner to his handler and together they were an upbeat and successful team."

The force said Titan was also a hit in the community when he attended events.

"His loss will be felt across the police service and the entire Waterloo region community," the force said.
