Not clear if HMV stores in region will become Sunrise Records

It's not clear yet if any of the HMV stores in Waterloo region or Guelph will be taken over by Sunrise Records after the Ontario-based chain announced Monday it would take over 70 HMV locations in malls across Canada.

It's not clear yet if any of the HMV stores in Waterloo region or Guelph will be taken over by Sunrise Records.

The Ontario-based chain announced Monday it would take over 70 HMV locations in malls across Canada.

CristinaFernandes, a spokesperson for Sunrise, said any stores not listed in Monday's release will be confirmed in a "few days after more details are finalized."

The release did saySunrise will acquire stores in Limeridge Mall in Hamillton and Square One in Mississauga.

There are HMV four locationsin the area including:

  • Fairview Park Mall in Kitchener.
  • Conestoga Mall in Waterloo.
  • Cambridge Centre in Cambridge.
  • Stone Road Mall in Guelph.

CBC News spoke to an employeeatthe Fairview Park Mall location who said they weren't sure if the store would become a Sunrise Records store, and suggested calling Sunrise Records for more information.
