Speed enforcement cameras coming to 8 Waterloo region schools in 90 days

Speed cameras will be installed aroundeight schools in Waterloo region in approximately 90 days' time, according to a news release issued by the region.

Automated speed enforcement cameraswill be installed aroundeight schools in Waterloo region in approximately 90 days' time, according to a news release issued by the region.

It's part of an effort to improve safety in school zones,regional Chair Karen Redmansaid in the release.

The systems which measure the speed of approaching vehicles,photograph those that are exceeding the posted limit and send tickets to the addresses associated with their vehicleregistrationwill be installed nearthe following schools:

  • Cedar Creek Public School onHilltop Drive in North Dumfries.
  • Foundation Christian School on Katherine Street in Woolwich.
  • Franklin Avenue Public School in Kitchener.
  • Keatsway Public School in Waterloo.
  • Laurentian Public School onWestmount Road inKitchener.
  • New Dundee Public School onBridge Street in New Dundee.
  • St. Clements Public School onLobsinger Line in St. Clements.
  • St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary on Guelph Avenue in Cambridge.

"Coming soon" signs are being installedthis week to notify motorists of the impending arrival of the cameras,the region said.
