Minivan driver killed in crash with tractor-trailer north of Grand Bend

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Huron Countysay one person is dead after a tractor-trailer collided head on with a minivan on the Bluewater Highway north of London, Ont., onWednesday morning.

OPP and emergency crews were called to Highway 21 in the area of Sararas Roadnorth of Grand Bendjust before 7 a.m. ET. The vehicles ended up in a field east of the highway.

"Unfortunately one of the drivers, the driver of the minivan, a 58-year-old Bluewaterresident, has died as a result of the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene," said Constable Craig Soldan. "The driver of the semi truck was uninjured."

The highway will beclosed between Dashwood Road and Zurich-Hensall Road for several hours, said Soldan.

The OPP's traffic reconstruction team is on the scene.
