This guy keeps getting election lawn signs he doesn't want

Lorne Merner says Progressive Conservative lawn signs keep appearing on his property, even though he told campaign staff he didn't want one.

Lorne Merner said the sign was installed by a guy driving a half-tonne truck with PC campaign logos

Lorne Merner is quite sure it isn't a prank.

"I'm cleaning the breezeway window and I see somebody putting a damn sign in our front yard," he said. "Because I had a knee replacement I wasn't very fast getting out there and he was across the road jumping in his truck."

We're not party affiliate type people. We don't want any signs on our yard.- LorneMerner

The truck in question was clearly marked, according to Merner, who said it was a half-tonne truck with Progressive Conservative campaign signs on the sides.

"They just drove off. He didn't see me," Merner said, noting he took the sign down and threw it in the garbage, only to have a second sign planted in his lawn last Friday.

'They put another sign in the front yard'

"We were at my daughter's," he said. "My other daughter was checking the house and lo and behold they put another sign in the front yard."

Mernersaid he was "irritated" by the whole incident, especially because both signs arrived a week after his wife Barb told a man campaigning onbehalf of London-FanshaweProgressive Conservative candidate Eric Wenigerthat they didn't want a sign in the first place.

"Barb and I, we don't vote for the same party all the time, we determine who the candidate is in our riding and leantowardsthat, we're not party affiliate type people. We don't want any signs on our yard."

Mernersaid that's when the man at the front door gave his wife a strange response.

'It's just inconsiderate'

"Basically he just said 'damn' and walked away," Merner said. "Mind you, that's not very awful in this day and age with swearing so prevalent, but it's just inconsiderate."

Is there a chance these guys just made a mistake?

"Hey, I'm the first one to say 'they made a mistake' and it's on the list becausethe kid just checked the wrong box and every time they drive by here they 'oh, there's supposed to be a sign here because it says so on the list.'"

However, volunteer staff at Eric Weniger'sSouthdaleRoad East office told CBC News that Merner'sname doesn't appear on any of their lists and that they believe it is the work of pranksters, but Merneris sure of what he saw.

"I don't think so," he said. "It was a half-tonne truck, a truck with signs on the side."

"It's a black mark against them as far as I'm concerned. For me, there's no way they're getting my support at all now."

Eric Weniger said his campaign team has delivered over 800 lawn signs and it's possible there was a mistake, but volunteers would gladly pick it up if it was reported.

"I don't know how it got there a second time," he said.
