Fatal hit and run collision on the 401

One person has died following a hit and run collision Wednesday evening on Highway 401 east of Woodstock.

A passing eastbound motorist struck a male who was outside of his vehicle, according to Oxford County OPP.

Police say the motorist failed to remain at the scene.

The victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

The name of the victim has not been released.

The incident happened at around 8:30 p.m.

One eastbound lane of the 401 was closed while police investigated.

A description of the suspect vehicle has not been released.
