2 Manitobans, 3 Jets prospects named to Canadian junior camp

Two Manitobans and three Winnipeg Jets prospects have been named to Canada's national junior hockey team selection camp.

Two Manitobansand three Winnipeg Jets prospects have been named to Canada's national junior hockey team selection camp.

Madison Bowey of Winnipeg, and Travis Sanheim of Elkhorn made the 29-man roster, which was released Monday morning.

They will be joined by Jets prospectsEric Comrie, Josh Morrissey, and Nic Petan. The Jets are the only NHL team with three representatives on Hockey Canadas selection camp roster.

Bowey, a defenceman who was a second round draft pick by the Washington Capitals in the 2013 NHL draft, currently plays for the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League.

Sanheim, another defenceman, was drafted in the first round of the 2014 draft by the Philadelphia Flyers, and currently plays for the Calgary Hitmen.

Comrie, a goaltender for theTri-City Americans of the WHL, is from Edmonton. Morrissey, a defencemanand captain of his junior club, the WHLs Prince Albert Raiders, is from Calgary.

Petan, from Delta, B.C., is a centremanand captain ofthe WHL's Portland Winterhawks.

Morrissey and Petan are returning members of Canadas World Junior team, having competed last season in Malmo, Sweden.

The selection camp begins in Toronto onDec. 11. The roster willbe cut down to 22 players before the World Junior Championships start onDec. 26.

The championship tournament games will be played in Toronto and Montreal.
