Homicide investigation blocks Alfred Avenue

A male victim who was found injured on Alfred Street has died, becoming Winnipeg's 19th homicide of the year. In all of 2018, the city reported only 22 homicides.

A male victim who was found injured on Alfred Street has died, becoming the city's 19th homicide of the year.

The total number of homicides in all of 2018 was 22.

Winnipeg police officers were called to the scene around 9:20 p.m. Sunday night following a report of several people fighting. The victim was taken to hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Police, including the identification unit, have taped off a section of Alfred Avenue in the North End,from AikinsStreet to Salter Street.

No other information about the victim or the incident has been released.

It was the third homicide of the weekend.Shaylnne Marie Hunter, 25, died after a stabbing on Simcoe Street in the West End early Saturday morning. A man died on Friday evening on Greencrest Avenue.
