Police HQ contractor Caspian Construction sued by apartment owner

It's been nearly two years since Caspian Construction offices were raided by RCMPas part ofits investigation into the construction of police headquarters on Graham.

No charges have been laid in that case, butCaspian and its owner Armik Babakhanians are facing a new lawsuit.

A numbered company controlled by local developer and lawyer Ken Zaifman,is suing Caspian for "defects and deficiencies" in the construction of balconies and exterior cladding of the Grandmont Apartmentson Pembina Highway, just south of the perimeter.

The suit alleges several balconies are tilted allowingwater toleak into the building and it claims in total, 11 suites were affected.

Requests to Caspian to fix the problem went unanswered, according to court documents.

Zaifman is seeking an unspecified amount of damages.

The allegations have not been proven in court and Caspian has not filed a statement of defence.

ArmikBabakhaniansdid not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The lawyer for the numbered company declined an interview request.
