Search for Christine Wood continues in Winnipeg

It's been almost threeweeks since Christine Wood was last seen on the evening of Aug.19in the St. James area, and on Thursday night,family and friends continued the search for the 21-year-old woman.

"I'm just lost without her. I just want to find her. It's so hard not knowing where she is," saidMelinda Wood, Christine's mother.

The Woods are from Oxford House First Nation and were in Winnipeg to help a family member to a medical appointment when Christine went missing.

When Melinda and her husband returned to the hotel, where they had left their daughter earlier, Christinewas gone.

After she didn't return to the hotel, the Woods grew increasingly worried and filed a missing personreport with police. Friday marks 21 days since Wood went missing.

"It's not like hernot to call. Every time we've come into the city with her, or when she's gone to school here, she would always text or say that she's OK,"Christine's fatherGeorge Wood said,fighting back tears.

"But this time she hasn't called or even messaged through social media. That's what we're worried about."

On Thursday night, volunteers met at the bell tower on Powers Street and SelkirkAvenueto knock on doors and walk throughthe neighbourhood.

Rene Chegahno isin Winnipeg from Toronto visiting a friend. Despite her short stay, she wanted to help search for Wood.

"The more eyes, the more ears, the better. If it was my family I would want anybody and everybody to come out and help," Chegahno said, adding shehopesto come across anything that helps with the search.

Like Chegahno,Winnipegger Mora Jean Peter doesn't knowthe Woods but wanted to help out. Having a daughter herself, Peter saidshe wants them to know they aren't alone.

"I hope she's safe somewhere,"Peter said."Searching for missing and murdered women;I feel it's my job."

Wood is described as five-foot-six-inches tall, average build with shoulder length dark brown hair.
