Dr. Michel Ttreault, CEO of St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, dies

Dr. Michel Ttreault, the president and chief executive officer of Winnipeg's St. Boniface Hospital, has died. Hospital officials did not say when or how he died or how old he was.

Dr. Michel Ttreault, the president and chief executive officer of Winnipeg's St. Boniface Hospital, has died.

Dr. Michel Ttreault joined St. Boniface Hospital as its chief medical officer in 2001 and became CEO about five years later. Hospital officials confirmed on Wednesday that Ttreault has died. (St. Boniface Hospital)
A hospital spokesperson confirmed Ttreault's death on Wednesday afternoon,but officialsdidnot say when or how hedied or how old he was.

Ttreault joined St. Boniface Hospital as its chief medical officer in 2001 and was appointed CEO in February 2005following the retirement of Hubert Gauthier.

"Dr. Ttreault was a passionate advocate for patients, and actively engaged the hospital's leadership, staff and physicians in making real changes to improve processes and develop systems aimed at providing better patient care and creating operational excellence," the hospital stated in a news release.

"A champion of lean methodologies in health care aimed at reducing waste and improving processes, Dr. Ttreault was often invited to share his insights with health organizations in Canada, the United States and Europe."
