5th annual Filipino Street Festival draws big crowd in Winnipeg

Hundreds of people gathered along Memorial Avenue Saturday to celebrate the WinnipegFilipino Street Festival.

The fifth annual festival kicked off with a parade in the morning. This year was thefirst time the event has been held in the downtown area.

Clarielle Pabalan was one of severalperformers to take the stage Saturday night.

"It's really great because everyone is united in this one event and it feels like you're back home in the thePhilippineswhen you see all these Filipinosgather together," she said.

Organizers expected about 8,000 people to attend.
