Fire that leveled Winnipeg apartment considered suspicious

The $3.5-million fire that destroyed an under-construction apartment complex in Winnipeg is considered suspicious, police said Friday.

The $3.5-million fire that destroyed an under-construction apartment complex in Winnipeg is considered suspicious, police said Friday.

The blaze began at 2:30 a.m. Thursdayin the three-storey building at the corner ofWaverleyStreet and John Angus Drive.

Some homes in the neighbourhood were evacuated because the heat was so intense, buteveryone was allowed to return by early afternoon.

Crews remained at the scene fighting flare-ups for most of the day.No injuries were reported.
