Man pulled from Aberdeen Avenue house fire dies

One man is dead following a house fire that ripped through a home in the 200 block of Aberdeen Avenue, according to police.

Emergency responders say passerby noticed smoke coming from the home and called 911

A manis dead following a house fire in Winnipeg's North End.

According to crews on scene, a passerby noticed smoke coming from the home in the200 block of Aberdeen Avenuearound 6 p.m. and called 911.

Investigators saidthe body was badly burned and initially, the person was determined to be in critical condition. He was pronounced dead a short while later.

Police did not release the name or exactage of the man, butsaid hewas in his 50s.

It is believed the fire started from something being cooked in the kitchen, police said, adding it is not being considered suspicious.

By 8 p.m., crews had extinguished most of the fire but said the home had extensive damage.
