What does nearly $8,000 in Canadian Tire money look like? Most of us will never know, but Corin Raymond does.

A few years back, riffing on a reference to Canadian Tire money in his song "Don't Spend It Honey," the Toronto musician set out to crowdfund the recording of an album by soliciting donations of the quintessentially Canadian reward currency.

The story Raymond tells here is how that played out with international media coverage, donations from across Canada, and some surprisingly personal stories from the donors.

It's a pretty remarkable success, though not necessarily a story incredible enough to warrant an hour-long monologue.
Still, Raymond carries it with his amiable charm as a storyteller and his dry humour.

It's an appealing slice of Canadiana. And yes, if you're trying to figure out what to do with that stash you've got lying around, Raymond will still happily take your Canadian Tire money donations.
