Human remains found in Portage la Prairie

RCMP say human remains were found in Portage la Prairie Wednesday night.

Police were called to Baker Avenue around 9:30 p.m. after someone found the remains in that area, the Manitoba RCMP said in a news release.

The identity of the person found isn't known yet, but the RCMP's major crimes and forensic identification unit are investigating alongside the province's chief medical examiner's office.

No other details were released Thursday but RCMP said updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
