About 1,100 pigs were killed in a hog barn fire in rural Manitoba on Thursday.

Around 6 p.m., RCMP got a call about a hog barn on fire 10 kilometres southwest of La Broquerie, Man.

By the time officers arrived, the barn was engulfed in flames, and three local fire crews were trying to keep the fire under control.

Five hours later, the blaze was finally extinguished, but all of the 1,100 pigs inside were killed.

No people were hurt in the fire, but the barn is completely destroyed.

RCMP and the office of the fire commissioner are now investigating. They do not know what caused the blaze.
