Selkirk RCMP have arrested an 18-year-old man who they say documented his graffiti spree on Facebook.

The graffiti, which featured the same tag, started to appear last summer and photographswere posted on the popular social networking site, RCMP said Monday.

A tag isthe unique, stylized signature of the person who created the graffiti.

RCMPreceived numerous complaints about the graffiti thatcould be found on bridges, signs and businesses all over Selkirk, a city 35 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg. The tag, which featured a bald-headed man with a toothy grin, also showed up in the nearby rural municipalities of St. Andrews and St. Clements.

Const. David Obirek said investigators got a break after someone spotted local images posted on Facebook, he said.

That made the RCMP's job much easier, he said.

"The internet's global, so putting up any information, whether it be Facebook or other types of chat forums or informational-type forums anybody can see it, including the police."

A man from St. Clements has been arrested but he is not being identified because he was a youth at the time the graffiti was created, said Obirek.
