Province issues high-water warning for cottagers in Whiteshell

The province is warning cottagers with low-lying lots about rising waters and possible flooding in southeast Manitoba.

The province is warning cottagersabout rising waters and possible flooding in southeast Manitoba.

The province says levels onWest Hawk Lake, Falcon Lake and other watersheds in the Whiteshell area are on the rise due to recent rain and melting snow and ice.

Levels on Falcon Lake have surpassed the upper limits of what is considered normal for this time of year.Low-lying lots may be vulnerable to flooding, the province said in a statement.

Water levels on West Hawk Lake aren't quite as high, but continue to rise.

The advisory could remain in place for the next few weeks, depending on how much rain is forecast, according to the province.
