Missing man, 51, found dead in Manitoba's Interlake, police say it was homicide

A Manitoba man reported missing on June 1 has been found dead, and police are investigating it as a homicide.

A Manitoba man reported missing on June 1 has been found dead, and police are investigating it as a homicide.

The 51-year-old man from Fisher River Cree Nationwas found in the rural municipality of Fisher on Sunday afternoon.

"The victim appears to have been targeted and there is no indication of any ongoing threat to public safety," RCMP saidin a news release on Monday.

He was discovered during a search by multiple RCMP members, including officers frommajor crime services, search and rescue, and canine services, the news release said.

Police have released no other information about the manor where in the rural municipality he was found.

The rural municipality isin the Interlake region, about140 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
