Manitoba Public Insurance ramps up road tests, claim estimates after 10-week strike

Manitoba Public Insurance continues to ramp up services following a strike that began Aug. 28 and ended earlier this month.

All Class 1-6 and air brake knowledge tests as well as Class 2-5 road tests cancelled during the strike have been rescheduled, a news release from the Crown corporation Friday said. The release also said new knowledge and road test appointments are now available to be booked, but Class 6 road tests are seasonally unavailable.

The Crown corporation is also working with training school partners to resume Class 1 road testing and will share more information when it's available.

The releasesaid MPI continues to prioritize rescheduling customers whose estimating appointments were cancelled due to the labour interruption on a first-come, first-served basis.

MPI is also directly contacting customers who submitted a claim during the strike to schedule estimating appointments where required.

And starting Nov. 13, estimating and adjusting appointments for all new claims will resume, according to the statement.
