No snow spells woe for Manitoba companies, plants

It's Januarybut you wouldn't know it by looking outside in manyManitoba communities.

The weather's mild. There's little snow.

Temperatures in the Winnipeg areaare forecast tobe near 2C on Tuesday, which is about 15 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year, and then soar to 7C on Thursday.

While the unseasonable weather is welcomed by many, it spells trouble for others.

Josh Shane, who owns First Force Snow Removal in Winnipeg,said his company has cleared half the amount of snow that it normally does around this time of year.

"Last year, like last Boxing Day, there was one particular lot, its a bigger retail lot, and we hauled out 35 truckloads of snow out of there. This year, there's not even half a truck load to be had, you know?"

The lack of snowcovercould mean trouble for gardens and crops if the deep freeze shows up before the snow does.
