RCMP officer finds unconscious man on highway, crashed truck nearby

An RCMP officer on patrol in southern Manitoba came across a crash scene and a man lying unconscious on the highway.

An RCMP officer on patrol in southern Manitoba came across a crash scene and aman lying unconscious on the highway.

The officer stumbled on the scene just before midnight Wednesdayat the intersection of Highway 75 and Highway 210, near the community of St.Adolphe.

A pickup truck was in the ditch and the driver, who had been ejected, was lyingon the road. The officer began CPR on the manwhile waiting for paramedics to arrive.

The26-year-old crash victimwas later taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

RCMP are still investigating the crash but said it appearsthe driver tried to turn off Highway 75 onto Highway 210 but was going too fast and lost control, rolling into the ditch.

Hewas not wearing his seatbelt.

It is not known yet whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
