Slain North End woman loved, feared alleged killer, sister says

The 20-year-old woman found bleeding to death outside a North End home this week loved and feared the man who has been charged in her death, her sister says.

Selena Rose Keeper, age 20, was rushed to hospital just after 8 a.m. Thursday after she was found badly injured outside a home on Flora Avenue. Keeper died in hospital. A man who she had filed for a protection order against is now charged with second-degree murder in her killing. (Instagram)

The20-year-old woman found bleedingto death outside a North End home this week loved and feared the man who has been charged in her death, her sister says.

Selena Rose Keeper was found seriously injured in a yard on Flora Avenue Thursday morning. Shewas rushed to hospital in critical condition at 8 a.m. but later died of her injuries.

Keeper was beateninside the homeand was eventually left outside, police said, adding witnesses were apparentlyunable to stop the beating.

Chelsea Baptiste,22, said she feared forher sister's safety and told her as much.

"I said that I am afraid that he is going to hurt you even more if you stay with him," Baptiste said.

"She was always second guessing it all the time.She said she'd be fineand I know deep down inside that she was afraid still, but he was really controlling over her. "

Protection order denied

Police have charged 20-year-old Ray William Everettwith second-degree murder in Keeper's death.

Court documents show Keeper filed arestraining order application against Everett that was denied in May. In a written statement, Keeper detailed two years of physical abuse she claimed to have suffered at Everett's hands.

Keeper said shewas concerned Everettmight hurt her if they came into contact.

"I want to keep Ray away from me," she wrote on the 13th question of the protection order application.

'Too scared to leave'

Baptistesaid Keeper was a caring mom who at one pointloved Everett and the son they shared. Although she doesn't know Everett well, Baptiste said she learned from her sister that he was abusive.

"He would break her phone if she was in contact with me or anyone," Baptiste said.

"She came over to my house one time and told me her collarbone was broken and her nose was broken. She showed me a couple of bruises and cuts and everything."

Baptiste said that Keeper tried to leave Everett several times, but he would get angry. Keeper was "too scared to leave," Baptiste added.

Everett remains in police custody.
