Manitoba RCMP investigate suspicious death of young girl

RCMP are investigating the suspicious death of an eight-year-old girl in northwestern Manitoba.

On June 29, officers rushed to a home in Pukatawagan, a community about 200 kilometres north of The Pas. There, they found an eight-year-old girl unresponsive.

She was rushed to a nearby nursing station where she was pronounced dead.

RCMP said an autopsy on her body has been completed but her name and her cause of death is not being released.

Officers are now treating the girls death as suspicious and numerous other units have been called in to help investigateincluding the Winnipeg RCMP Serious Crime Unit.
