Two teen boys have been arrested in connection with a fire on the retired cruise ship MS Lord Selkirk II.

Bothboys are set to becharged with arson, according to the RCMP.

They have been released from custodyon a promise to appear in courtin September.

The fire on theship, which had been sitting abandoned for a couple of years, sarted at about 12:30 p.m. on June 19 and consumed the upper deck.

Built in 1969 in Selkirk, the 176-foot steel passenger vessel was owned by various companies and individuals until 2010, when it was slated to be taken apart for scrap.

But the fire had kept crews from beginning the dismantling process.

That process will begin soon by Toronto-based Global Scrap Solutions, whichwill cut up theship's rusted remains and remove them from the slough at Selkirk Park, where the ship has been parked for the past 22 years.
