Teens face 17 charges after Jackie Healey assaulted during work placement

Charges have been laid against two teenagers after a work placement student was attacked at Selkirk Behavioural Health Foundation.

RCMP said two women at the facility were found injured on Sunday and rushedto hospital. A pickup truck was also stolen.

Just before 2 a.m. on Tuesday, RCMP arrested two suspects.

A 17-year-old male will face seven charges including aggravated assault, robbery, and unlawful confinement.

A 16-year-old male has been charged with 10 offences including assault, possession of a weapon, and theft of a motor vehicle.

RCMP said the teenagers will remain in custody.

The names of the accused can't be released due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Red River College student Jackie Healey, 23, has remained in hospital recovering from a cracked skull and broken teeth. She said she's not sure she will regain her eyesight.

The other woman was released from hospital.
