A Winnipeg Home Depot store was closed Monday morning because of a fire in the building's utilityroom.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to the fire at 1999 Abinojii Mikanaharound 10:53 a.m., a news release from the City of Winnipeg said Monday. When crews arrived they found smoke in the store and located a fire in the utilityroom.

The fire was kept under control by the building's sprinkler system and staff and customers were evacuated, the release said. No injuries were reported, according to the release.

The damage was contained to the room and preliminary observations suggestthe fire was accidental, caused by a failure in a battery or charger, the City of Winnipeg said in its release.

An employee told CBC News the store had since reopened following the fire.
