A judge has granted bail to the woman accused in the death of her toddler in Waywayseecappo First Nation, Man.

The woman, 36, appeared in a Brandon courtroom Monday afternoon. She was placed on a number of conditions, including to post a $5,000 recognizance and two $5,000 sureties for her release.

She is also not allowed to have contact with a number of individuals and must live at a house in Waywayseecappo First Nation on a 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew.

The woman was arrested by RCMP last Tuesday and charged with second-degree murder in the January 2015 death of her two-year-old son.

The boy's uncle told CBC News at the time that the toddlerhad bumped his head while rough-housing with his sister. The next morning, the child did not wake up and the family called police. He was later pronounced dead at a Winnipeg hospital.

A publication ban was granted at her first court appearance last week in order to protect the identities of witnesses and complainants in the case.

The family declined to comment to CBC News Monday afternoon outside of court.

The woman returns to court next month in Waywayseecappo.

Waywayseecappo is about 280 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg and 115 kilometres northwest of Brandon in western Manitoba.
