A carbon monoxide leak forced dozens of tenants from the suites of aWellington Crescent condo complex Sunday night.

Emergency crews were called to the building at about 7:15 p.m. after reports carbon monoxide was detected in the building.

Several Winnipeg Transit buses were called to the scene to give residents a place to stay warm while crews investigated. The city's major incident response vehicle (MIRV) was also called to the scene as a precaution.

A spokesperson with the city said they believe a "furnace malfunction" led to the leak.

Crews remained on the scene as of 9 p.m. There is no word on when the furnace will be fixed, but the city said residents should be allowed back in their units at some point this evening.
