A young Winnipeg athlete has returned home with two medals from the 2013 World Dwarf Games in the United States.

Vivek Bhagria, 18, won a bronze medal in volleyball and a silver medal in floor hockey during the games, which took place Aug. 3-10 in East Lansing, Michigan.

Featuring almost 400 registered athletes from 17 countries, the games were billed as "the largest sporting event in history exclusively for athletes with dwarfism."

Bhagria, who was the lone Manitoban on Team Canada's 25-person roster, competed in 11 of the 13 events, including soccer, basketball and hockey.

Ismaila Alfa of CBC Radio's Up to Speed program checked in with Bhagria on Tuesday afternoon. Click on the audio player above to hear the full interview.
