Bomber fans will have fewerspots to park their vehicle and hitch a ride to Investors Group Field on game day during the 2016 season.

The Winnipeg Football Clubsaid 5,000 parking spots on the University of Manitoba campus, at between $10 and $20 a pop, are still an option, but there will be a reduction from nine to seven "park and ride" lots available this year.

Every year fans wishing to drive partway and ditch their vehicle in designated lots have been allowed to hop on and off buses assigned to take them straight to the game.

This year, park and ride locations in the Garden City Shopping Centre and Kildonan Place parking lots have been cut from the rotation.

The organization said people in the Garden City area can use the nextclosest location at McPhillipsStation, while drivers in Kildonan and the surrounding area are encouraged to use the Club Regent park and ride lot or take the bus.

"We feel that reducing the number of park and rides should help speed up the existing process, and also reduce costs of the transportation plan, which the Winnipeg Football Club is responsible for," the organization's CEO and presidentWade Miller said in a statement Monday.

Cabbing, biking or busing to the game remain popular options, the organization added.

More information about game-day parking is available on the Bombers' website.
