Police say three people defrauded in online Winnipeg Jets ticket sale scam

Police have laid charges against a 30-year-old man after three Winnipeggers looking for Jets tickets were scammed out of cash.

Police said between January and February a man responded to online ads seeking tickets to see the Winnipeg Jets.

He made arrangements to swap the tickets and had at least three victims send him electronic money transfers. Police said no tickets were ever sent or received.

On Tuesday, a 30-year-old man was charged with three counts of fraud under $5,000.

The man was released from police custody on a promise to appear.
