Police seized nearly $900,000 worth of illegal methamphetamine during a raid at a Winnipeg home late last week, the local police service said Wednesday.

Police seized nearly $900,000 worth of illegal methamphetamine during a raid at a Winnipeg home late last week, the local police service said Wednesday.

Police said a total of five kilograms of the illegal drug was found Friday inside a home on Moldan Bay in the Amber Trails neighbourhood.

It has a street value of $895,000, police said.

Much smaller quantities of heroin and cocaine, along with cash and two counterfeit bills were also seized.

The heavily armed tactical support team was called in to assist in raiding the home. Police didn't say how they learned drugs were allegedly inside.

A 29-year-old man and 24-year-old woman face drug-trafficking and possession of criminal property charges. They were not identified and were released from police custody.

Police said the woman also faces a charge of possessing counterfeit money.
