Winnipeg records 33rd homicide of 2011

Homicide detectives in Winnipeg have opened a file on the death of a man early Saturday morning, making it the 33rd killing in that city in 2011.
Homicide detectives in Winnipeg have opened a file on the death of a man early Saturday morning, making it the 33rdmurder in that city in 2011.

The case, numbered C11-227666, began as a call to police about the sound of gunshots, heard around 2:30 a.m. CT, in the area of Rorie Street and McDermot Avenue.

When officers arrived they found an injured man a few streets over on the 100 block of Arthur Street.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition, where police said he died from his injuries.

The man's name and age were not released.
