Winnipeg rockers The Weakerthans split, drummer says

It appears Winnipeg's The Weakerthans are no more.
The Weakerthans formed in 1997. The name, as quoted in the liner notes of Fallow, the band's debut album, is a line from the 1992 film The Lover: "Go ahead, I'm weaker than you can possibly imagine." (The Weakerthans)

Drummer Jason Tait tweeted Tuesday that word was getting out that the band was "done."

The band hasn't released a new album since 2007's Reunion Tour,which wastheir fourth studio record.

That album opened up at No. 22 on the Canadian charts and cracked the Billboard's Top 200 in the U.S.

Known for singer John K. Samson's melodic, melancholy songwriting, The Weakerthans reeled in three Juno award nominationsand a Polaris Music Prize short list honour.
