Winnipeg Transit fares, city fees set to rise in 2016

A range of City of Winnipeg services will become more expensive in 2016, including transit fares, pool fees, and housing permits. The increase is to compensate for inflation, saidthe city.

Single admission for poolsis currently $6.29 for adults during prime-timeand will increase by 1.9 per cent, water rates will also increase 1.9 per cent from its current rate of $1.45 per cubic metre, andhousing permits will also increase by 1.9 per cent.

Winnipeg Transit bus fares are also set to rise in 2016. The new fees take effect on January 1, 2016.

Regular cash fares will be $2.65 in the New Year and bus ticket fares are $2.30, both increased by five cents. Monthly passes are now $88.55 up from $86.65 in 2015.

2015 bus tickets will be still accepted until March 31, 2016 but riders must pay the additional cash difference, said the city.
